[edit] Joining the IRC channel

Before joining Ilug-cal's IRC channel, you will first require an IRC client on your PC. I recommend X-Chat for Linux and Windows users, and Colloquy for Mac users. You can also use [www.mozilla.org/projects/rt-messaging/chatzilla/ Chatzilla], which is an extension for the widely popular Firefox browser.

Once you've downloaded and installed a client of your choice, it's fairly straighforward from then on.

To log into a the IRC channel, we must first connect to an IRC server. The server we need to connect to in order to get to #ilug-cal is irc.freenode.net
